The majority of our available funds are spent on Means-tested Bursaries.
Bursaries allow talented and ambitious young people the opportunity to benefit from an outstanding Brentwood education, whose circumstances mean it would not be possible on financial grounds.
Means-tested Bursaries are available up to and including 100% of tuition fees, with additional support for extras available too. We currently have 130 students who receive a Bursary, with almost 70 having fully funded places.

Recognising Your Potential
For 2027 entry at 11+ (Year 7) and 16+ (Year 12)
11+ Bursary Awards: 11+ Bursary applications must be completed and submitted by 1st November 2026. Candidates must perform exceptionally well in the entrance assessment to be considered for an Academic Bursary. For Specialist Bursary awards, candidates must pass the entrance assessment and be successful in their scholarship application in one or more of the specialist areas of Chess, Dance, Drama, Music and Sport. Candidates may apply for up to three Specialist Bursaries.
16+ Bursary Awards: 16+ Bursary applications must be completed and submitted by 6th November 2026. Bursaries are awarded on academic grounds via an academic essay, predicted grades and interview, and on specialist grounds via our Specialist Scholarship assessment process in the areas of Art, Chess, Dance, Drama, Music and Sport. Candidates may apply for up to two Specialist Bursaries.
Transformational Bursaries
Each year, we offer a number of transformational Means-tested Bursaries at 11+ and 16+ to bright, deserving students whose parents or guardians cannot afford the full fees. This is per the School’s charitable purpose.
We ask parents who wish to apply for a Bursary to complete a confidential online financial assessment form. The form requires full information about the family’s financial circumstances, with supporting documentation to be completed by 1st November 2026 for 11+ applicants and 6th November 2026 for 16+.
Following the 11+ and 16+ assessment process, the families of high achieving Bursary applicants will have a financial assessment in their home or via Zoom. This will be sensitively carried out by an independent, specialist assessor from Bursary Administration Ltd (BAL).
As a Bursary holder, I have been able to embrace all aspects of Brentwood School. I have danced in every school musical and participated in all the Dance Shows, and have had a leadership role in the CCF Royal Navy, enabling me to give back to the school community. The opportunities at Brentwood would not have been accessible without the help of my Bursary, for which I am very grateful.

We provide Bursaries to ensure that children from a wide variety of backgrounds can benefit from the excellent education and learning opportunities offered at Brentwood School.

The Brentwood School Foundation
The Foundation exists solely to provide transformational Bursaries to talented children from modest backgrounds. From the near-immediate change it makes to their life, to the ongoing difference it makes in every personal or professional relationship they create beyond Brentwood School, the impact is clear.
Our Bursary students exhibit strong success in securing their preferred higher education pathway, with all 13 Upper Sixth Bursary students gaining places at Russell Group, Top 20 or overseas universities.
