Brentwood Revs Up for STEM Racing Success

Our engineers of the future have been burning rubber at the F1 in Schools London North Regional Final. On the 12th and 13th of February, two talented teams from Years 8, 9, and 10 headed to Harlow College to put their design and racing skills to the ultimate test. Guided by Mr Schramm and Mr Christian, our students faced a grueling circuit of challenges. From building professional pit displays and delivering high-pressure presentations to explaining complex aerodynamics to industry engineers, the boys proved they have the brains to match their speed.

The Teams

• Brentwood Ignition (Years 9 & 10): Akaash, Pranav, Ethan, Jack, and Pietro competed in the Development Class. This required a deep dive into engineering, including a full portfolio on project management and sponsorship. They secured a fantastic 15th place out of 21 teams- a brilliant feat against elite competition from schools like Harrow and Eton.
• MACH 1 (Year 8): Will, George, George, and Finley took the track by storm on Friday. Their hard work paid off spectacularly, with the team taking home the ‘Fastest Car’ award and the ‘Future Stars’ trophy, ultimately finishing 2nd place overall!

The highlight of the event was watching the CO2-powered cars fly down the STEM Racing track. Both teams represented the school with professionalism and grit, proving that Brentwood’s STEM stars are well and truly in the fast lane.
