Skip Across the Globe
We are delighted to share details of an exciting Prep initiative: “Skip Across the Globe.”
This build-up to our whole school Race Across the Globe event, which will take place in June 2026, is designed to foster a sense of anticipation, unity, and shared purpose across the Prep School whilst getting active and having fun.
As part of this challenge, all Prep pupils will work collaboratively to skip a number of distances, aiming to total the Earth’s circumference (40,075 km or 25,000 miles), over a four-week period. Children of all physical abilities will be able to take part and develop their teamwork, resilience, and a strong sense of community spirit.
How the Challenge will Work
All skipping will either take place during PE lessons or during specified times during the challenge.
- Reception & Foundation: Children will participate in a “Hop & a Skip” activity, carefully tailored to suit their stage of development.
- KS1 Goal: “Skip the UK Coastline” = 37 skips per pupil
- KS2 Goal: “Skip Across the Globe” = 125 skips per pupil
We also want to see pupils practice their skipping skills and share how they’re getting on over the Easter break. There is a note on Tapestry for EYFS and an assignment on Google Classroom for both KS1 and KS2 with the task details, hoping that we can all help encourage one another.
This will mark our first Prep skipping challenge, raising awareness and supporting fundraising for our school bursaries, which will be a key focus of the Race Across the Globe event later in the year.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
