Planting and Growing with Foundation
Since returning from half-term there has been a lot of excitement in Foundation. On the first day back, we found some Magic Beans in our classrooms and decided to plant them in soil, water them, and see what might grow. The following day there were huge beanstalks in our classrooms! This inspired us to grow some beans of our own and we are observing closely to see how they change.
Following on from our learning about butterflies and their life cycle, and linked to our current learning about how to care for plants, we visited Hillcrest Garden Centre to buy some butterfly friendly plants for our Foundation planters. We chose plants that we thought would attract lots of pollinators and also ones that we found interesting, such as mint and geraniums with leaves that smell like cola.
We planted them all this week and will be looking after them by watering them every day, picking off the dead flowers and pulling out any weeds.
