Boarding Development

We have transformed our boarding accommodation, constructing a new state-of-the-art Boarding House, designed specifically to meet our students’ needs.

Boarding Reimagined

Boarding is an important part of our school’s history and contributes to the diversity and international element of our community.

While the school enjoys a rich history, we have consistently embraced innovation. Boarding remains an essential part of this tradition, encouraging cross-cultural friendships and ensuring a high-quality British educational experience for all our students.

Our new purpose-built boarding house has been years in the planning, is sector-leading and offers the highest standard of accommodation and boarding facilities, subdivided into three main sections: a girls’ and boys’ boarding house and a central shared facility.

Modern Facilities, Innovative Spaces

The ground floor of the new building houses communal seating, recreation areas and social spaces, including a kitchen and dining area, a common room, boot room, laundry collection room, and a lift so the whole building is fully accessible.

A new Benugo Café acts as a hub for boarding and day students, providing a social gathering space for Sixth Form students, a study space and group meeting venue, and features a covered arcade and access to the courtyard and terrace.

On the upper floor, 122 new single bedrooms offer a home-from-home, featuring cutting-edge university-style accommodation with light and airy private ensuite rooms.

The new building also includes staff accommodation located at each end of the site, connecting to each respective boarding house.

Our new boarding house is a top-tier, supportive, and nurturing environment that fosters academic and personal growth.

Flexi Boarding

We are delighted to offer students the option of flexi boarding.

This exciting option provides the opportunity to experience the benefits of boarding. It’s ideal for students involved in after-school clubs and activities or who have a long commute to and from school, or simply as preparation for university life.

Our flexi boarding option allows students to choose a two or three (consecutive) night package in a single ensuite bedroom. Our rooms are designed to create a peaceful and comfortable environment, allowing students to focus on their studies while also enjoying their personal space.

We believe that our new boarding facilities, combined with the flexibility of our boarding options, will greatly enhance the school experience for our students.

Please note that students will be interviewed and there are a fixed number of spaces available. For indicative prices, please contact our Boarding Admissions Manager, Brian Hays.

Green Initiatives and Sustainability

Our new high-spec facilities are energy efficient, and we have used sustainable material choices as part of our push toward sustainable development.

A dedicated outside area with improved landscaping and social areas centre around a courtyard garden to enhance the character of the site and surrounding area, creating a better outdoor experience for boarders.

Extensive new planting and trees offer improved biodiversity and better access to nature for our students. The new grounds also provide ample areas for sports, studying and socialising.

Our New Benugo Café

We’re excited to announce the opening of our Benugo Café, located in the heart of our new boarding house.

Benugo has opened its doors to parents, every weekday morning from 8.30am–10.30am for the rest of this term.

Our Sixth Form and boarders are already loving the new café as a hub to study, socialise and relax, and have given Benugo rave reviews!

Benugo is known for its fresh, seasonal food and award-winning coffee, sourced sustainably.

Take a moment to relax and catch up with fellow parents in our welcoming new space and enjoy barista-style coffee, pastries and sandwiches – the perfect way to start your day after drop-off.

Direct Transport Links

Brentwood School is located in the town centre close to London, which is just 23 minutes away and has excellent transport links and access to main airports.

The new boarding house is built within the spacious main school campus, making access to school quick and secure. Entrances are located at opposite sides of the courtyard, and a central entrance provides access to the cafe for boarders and Sixth Form to use. There are internal connections between the houses for boarders only.

Building Excellence

Our partnership with architects, Cottrell & Vermeulen Architecture, is long-standing. The same architects worked on the award-winning expansion of the Preparatory School, which included new buildings and the upgrading of existing buildings and the Sixth Form and Bean Academic Centres on the Senior campus.

In 2012, they were the winners of the 2012 RIBA Award for the Sixth Form Centre, in 2016 they secured a Brick Award for Best Education Building with the Bean Academic Centre and in 2022 they won the RIBA East Award for the Preparatory School build.

We enable our students to become the best version of themselves by developing Virtue, Learning and Manners.

Our Vision Statement

Brentwood Boarding combines the best of a busy, vibrant day school with an established boarding tradition set within a close, family atmosphere. Our School values, ‘Virtue, Learning and Manners’ remain a cornerstone of the School’s philosophy today.

Our new Boarding House is a testament to our ambition and aspiration to be the best boarding school we can be for our students, which says a lot about Brentwood and our constant wish to improve and move forward.
