The SCITT Programme at Brentwood
Through this collaboration, we are opening doors for aspiring educators seeking a dynamic and hands-on approach to their training.
Unlike traditional university-based routes to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), the SCITT programme offers a uniquely immersive experience where trainees can anticipate theoretical learning and practical application on their two placements in our Partner Schools.
Immersive Training at Brentwood School
Trainees will engage in fortnightly subject-specialist training sessions at Brentwood School, providing a supportive and collaborative learning environment.
This distinctive model ensures that our trainees gain a comprehensive understanding of the profession through the lens of their subject specialism, blending theoretical knowledge with classroom experience, setting them on a path towards becoming highly effective and confident practitioners.
I am now head of Modern Foreign Languages at an academy, having passed my National Professional Qualification in Leading Teaching last year. Additionally, I now teach Spanish as well as French and German.
National Modern Languages SCITT
Brentwood School is the North East London and Essex Hub for National Modern Languages (NML) SCITT.
NML SCITT is the only national SCITT provider for languages. Following this programme, trainees will have a mix of academic learning and practical experience. They will spend more time on placement in schools, providing them with more hands-on experience in the classroom.
Languages Offered: French, German, Italian, Mandarin & Spanish
Our trainees receive training from leading experts in how to teach modern foreign languages and partner schools are drawn from the best independent and state schools in the local area. There is a national shortage of language teachers (DfE bursaries are available), and graduates from SCITT programmes are highly sought after, putting trainees at a real advantage when looking for their first job.
National Mathematics & Physics SCITT
Brentwood School is the North East London and Essex Hub for National Mathematics & Physics (NMAP) SCITT, England’s only dedicated school centred initial teacher training provider specialising in maths and physics. We are passionate about every student being taught by enthusiastic, expert professionals in these important subjects. Our programme blends hands-on, in-school experience with focused, subject-specific training designed and delivered by experienced classroom practitioners and leading teacher educators ensuring you are ready to make a difference from your very first day in the classroom.
