Enriching Boarding

Our boarders benefit from the stability of a routine with dedicated time for academic work. They can easily join co-curricular activities without worrying about a long commute or fitting around a busy home life.

Our boarders participate fully in all aspects of school life. They have access to our sports facilities seven days a week and the opportunity to participate in inter-house competitions and other enriching activities.

We offer an exceptional programme of co-curricular and enrichment activities with a diverse selection of trips, societies and clubs available including our Tennis Academy, Equestrian Team, Chess Club, Fencing Club and Football Academy. Find out more below.

SeniorSixth Form

I take part in different STEM clubs within the school to enhance my personal statement when applying to university. I also volunteer outside of school with a foundation that works in a sector I am really passionate about.

Diverse Opportunities

Our students can take part in competitive and recreational sports, musical activities (we are a Steinway School and have a partnership with the Guildhall School of Music), drama groups and productions, public speaking and Model United Nations, STEAM and much more. There is something for everyone.

Houseparents make sure there is also a wide range of activities for boarders in the evenings and at weekends. Boarders have enjoyed weekends in the Peak District, visits to Theme Parks and shows in London’s West End. Our Christmas celebrations also include a shopping trip and a street food party.

Everything is just so easy to get to and participate in - I never have a dull day boarding at Brentwood.

Weekly Boarding

Weekly boarding is an option that offers great flexibility to students who wish to board during the week to focus on school activities and return home at weekends to enjoy family time. It’s popular for students whose parents are working or those who have a long commute to school.

Full boarding fees still apply, however, all meals and laundry services are included and students can choose to stay at the boarding houses over the weekend if they want to be involved in co-curricular activities or to spend quiet time studying.

Weekend Activities

We believe in the merits of a diverse and mixed weekend program and offer our boarders a wide range of activities. From larger group trips for all students to embed a sense of community, to smaller excursions, such as visiting the opera, ballet or exploring the vibrant attractions of London just 23 minutes away by train, we cater to various interests.

Our boarders can engage in exhilarating activities like paintballing and escape rooms, enjoy movie nights at the cinema, or savour culinary experiences at local restaurants. They also have the opportunity to visit some of the wonderful shopping towns nearby, such as Oxford Street in London, Chelmsford, Basildon and Romford, as well as Brentwood’s charming town centre, with its eclectic mix of shops and restaurants.

At Brentwood, we believe in creating a family environment in our Boarding House and encourage boarders to invite friends for weekend activities such as quiz nights, karaoke and spa nights. We also prioritise the input of boarders, allowing them to contribute ideas for future trips and activities and ensure their voices are heard and considered.
