Brentwood School Honoured with National Chess Award
Brentwood School is proud to have received a British Chess Educational Trust Award, recognising our long-standing commitment to hosting English Chess Federation (ECF) school tournaments, the quality of our chess programme, and the national success of our teams.
The award is a beautifully crafted Judit Polgar chess set and wooden board, along with a DGT2500 Digital Clock- a wonderful symbol of the passion and dedication that chess inspires in our community.
Head of Chess, Robin Slade, said:
“I am very proud of our chess programme, both for the successes we have achieved and for the sheer number of students who have had fun playing and learning the best game in the world. Supporting students in other schools to have the same opportunity is an important part of our ethos.”
This term, we are excited to be hosting and organising key ECF tournaments, including the U19 English Schools Championships, the U19 British Team Challenge, and the U14 British Junior Team Challenge. We are also looking forward to a special girls’ chess afternoon in partnership with She Plays To Win and the Essex Junior Chess Association.
