Celebration of Year 5 Music Success
Congratulations Inaaya & Amaira in Year 5 for taking part in the NYSO Residency. (National Youth String Orchestra) during the Easter holidays.
The four-day NYSO Sinfonietta residency at Stamford School uses Dalcroze movement principles to treat the body as the primary instrument, embedding rhythm and pulse more deeply than intellectual study alone. Hosted in comfortable on-site boarding houses with a second session in August, the programme prioritises healthy playing and fundamental musicianship away from the instrument.
Inaaya said: “I had so much fun at the NYSO spring residency at Stamford School. We did way more than just play our instruments; we did lots of singing, art, crafting, and even experienced the ‘Dalcroze’ movement, where we used our bodies to learn the rhythm. Amaira and I got to lead a morning session, which was really fun.
“I loved sleeping in the big dorm with my new friends and playing in the garden during our breaks. I can’t wait to go back in August and do it all again. I was very happy to participate in the end of residency concert in front of my parents. I really recommend it because from experiences like this, you learn so much more.”
