Fauré Requiem
Fauré Requiem, Brentwood Cathedral – 26th March 2026
Each year, the combined choirs of Brentwood School give a concert in Brentwood Cathedral alongside the School’s Symphony Orchestra. The last two years have seen Britten’s Saint Nicolas and Duruflé’s Requiem performed to great acclaim, with many singers from the local community joining. I write to you now to invite you all to participate in 2026’s concert on Thursday 26th March, which will see Faure’s Requiem performed with strings alongside Saint-Saëns 2nd Piano Concerto and the finale of Guilmant’s tremendous Organ Concerto No. 1.
A highlight of this concert each year is the adult choir, which is also composed of staff, parents, and former pupils, who will be rehearsing on the dates below in 2026. We would kindly ask that you attend these sessions – both of which take place in the Huddleston Music Studio on the School grounds – as well as the rehearsal on the day of the concert itself:
Saturday 28th February: 13.00-15.30 – Rehearsal in School Music Studio, Huddleston
Saturday 21st March: 13.00-15.30 – Rehearsal in School Music Studio, Huddleston
Thursday 26th March: 16.00 – Rehearsal in Brentwood Cathedral for concert at 7pm
If you are interested, please complete this Google Form.
This concert is a highlight of the school year and provides an opportunity for pupils and their supporters from across the School community to perform wonderful music in a fantastic venue alongside their friends, peers, and professional musicians. This is an incredible work to be taking on, and I know that you will enjoy being part of the team.
Many thanks in advance for your support, and I look forward to meeting many of you (or seeing you again) in due course. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch with Mr Chris O’Leary on cho@brentwood.essex.sch.uk.
