Year 3 Inquirers Explore the String Family

Our Year 3 musicians had an unforgettable hands-on experience in music this week as they stepped into the world of the orchestral string family. Eyes were wide with wonder as the children entered the room to find a violin, viola, cello, and double bass waiting for them.

Beyond learning about how the instruments produce sound, the lesson offered a wonderful connection to community, exploring how an orchestra brings together different instruments playing unique parts to create one unified sound.

During group exploration, pupils became true musical researchers. Each group spent time investigating an instrument, experimenting with sounds, and gathering key facts to present back to the class. The room was buzzing with enthusiasm, and every child left eagerly debating which string instrument was their absolute favourite!
