Year 3 Trips to the Cambridge Museum of Technology

Recently, Year 3 pupils went on a trip to the Cambridge Museum of Technology as part of their current Unit of Inquiry, which is investigating how the advancement of tools and technology impacts how humans live.

The pupils enjoyed a tour of the museum and got to take part in some hands-on workshops. There were examples of old machinery to try and lots of buttons to press! The museum houses lots of examples of fascinating old technology, and the pupils were amazed at how big some of the early technology was.

A great day was had by all, thanks to all the staff who went on the trip and made it a great success.

Five children in school uniforms assemble white plastic pipes into frames around a table with craft supplies. Exhibition posters and a large black-and-white photo of a man are visible in the background. Three young boys in school uniforms kneel around a white frame with a pulley, working together to lift a tin bucket using string. Classroom chairs and a table with papers are visible in the background. Three young children in school uniforms sit at a table working with sheets of aluminium foil and a battery pack. Two girls are focused on the foil, while a boy in a red hat sits beside them holding a pen. Four schoolgirls in uniforms kneel and sit around a homemade balance with hanging buckets, smiling in a classroom or science laboratory setting. Shelves with displays and equipment are visible in the background. A smiling child stands next to an open, vintage iron furnace door in a brick setting. Inside the furnace, there are two small toy animals placed on the hearth. A green railing runs in front of the furnace. Three children stand outside a classic red British telephone box, watching a girl inside as she uses the black telephone. The box is open, and the children appear curious and engaged. A group of young children, supervised by two adults, work together on a science project at a table. The children are wearing school uniforms and appear focused on assembling materials. Two boys in school uniforms use vintage rotary dial telephones at a wooden table in what appears to be a museum or classroom setting. They are both holding the receivers to their ears. Two schoolchildren in uniform work together on a practical science activity with metal pipes at a table, whilst other pupils in similar uniforms are seen in the background. A woman assists two schoolchildren in maroon uniforms as they work together on a hands-on brass science experiment at a table in a classroom or workshop setting. Two schoolgirls in uniforms sit at a table, working on worksheets with red pencils. One girl is writing whilst the other looks at her. In the background, a colourful display shows app icons.
