Serving Up Success: Brentwood School Boarder Aces LTA Young Person of the Year Award

It’s ‘game, set, and match’ for Brentwood School Year 12 boarder Sima, who has officially been named the LTA Young Person of the Year for Essex. In a field of high-quality nominations, Sima proved she has the ‘advantage,’ securing the 2025/26 County Award for her exceptional contributions to tennis. This prestigious accolade recognises Sima’s rapid ascent within the sport and her unwavering commitment to the local tennis community. As a County winner, she has not only earned a spot on the regional shortlist but has also secured the coveted opportunity to purchase tickets for the 2026 Wimbledon Championships.

Since joining Brentwood School last year, Sima has been a force to be reckoned with on and off the court. Beyond playing for the school team, she has successfully completed her LTA Level 1 Coaching Qualification, a milestone that has seen her transition from student to mentor as she assists with the junior group programme.

Mark Simpson-Crick, Head of the Brentwood School Tennis Academy (BSTA), noted that her impact was felt almost immediately: “Sima has received this award in recognition of her involvement in the tennis programme since joining Brentwood last year. She made a huge impression on the Essex LTA team and LTA President during their visit last year. This award is a wonderful reflection of her dedication, enthusiasm, and contribution to tennis at the school. I’m absolutely delighted for her.”

The journey doesn’t end at the county line. Sima’s nomination is now headed to the LTA national shortlisting panel. If successful, she will progress to the National Finals and Excellence Awards, with results expected this March. Essex Tennis will officially celebrate her achievements at a dedicated Awards Ceremony in April.
