Sibling success at Brentwood Junior Chess Tournament

Brentwood School hosted and supported the 6th Brentwood Junior Chess Tournament (organised by British Chess with additional support from the Essex Junior Chess Association).

A record-breaking 130 junior players from across Essex and beyond took part including 30 from Brentwood Preparatory and Senior Schools. It was the first major chess tournament in Essex for two years because of the pandemic and was the biggest tournament hosted at the school to date.

The tournament included the Prep and Senior School Championships which saw Nina P (Year 9) beat her brother Max after a play-off to become the new Senior School Champion. They finished equal 1st in the main Under 18 Open Championship.

Alyssa O (Year 6 and the sister of Brentwood chess scholar Jaden) became the new Prep Champion. She scored 4 out of 6 in the Under 11 section.

Lucas B (Year 7) won the Under 18 Minor – the section for the less experienced older players – in his first-ever tournament, and Anushka K K (Year 7) came 3rd.
