Director of Timetabling and Assessment (Prep)
Required: September 2025
Closing Date: Sunday 16th March 2025
Brentwood Prep School is an academically selective HMC co-educational independent school with small class sizes and a happy, ambitious and supportive staff team. It is part of Brentwood School, a 3-18 HMC school of 1900 pupils, just 35 minutes from London Liverpool Street.
The Prep School became an International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) candidate school in May 2024 and staff have begun an exciting journey of developing our curriculum and pedagogy. All new staff who join the school are supported through IB led training as well as in-house training and we enjoy collaborating across teams in order to deliver a truly world class education. Having a background in the PYP approach is not essential as we have a culture of learning together and recognise the different experiences staff bring from both the state and independent sectors. We welcome applications from all sectors of the community as we aspire to attract staff that match the social and cultural diversity of our student intake.
We are seeking to appoint a Director of Timetabling and Assessment. The role of Director of Timetabling and Assessment sits on the Prep Leadership Team, line managed by the Deputy Head Academic (Prep). This role has two main purposes: developing the timetable model each year to enable the curriculum design; leading on the assessment approach and ensuring effective delivery of assessments and analysis of pupil progress. These two remits have a multitude of specific responsibilities, but in essence the role requires the ability to visualise the “big picture” at a whole Prep School level and then dive into the fine details, always knowing that at the heart of any good system is an understanding of the people it impacts upon. All digital platforms can be taught to the person in the role, but the dispositions of fairness, empathy and high standards of system delivery are fundamental alongside being an experienced teacher who understands the complexity of assessing pupil progress.
