Brentwood Senior School is an academically selective HMC co-educational independent school with small class sizes and a happy, ambitious and supportive staff team. It is part of Brentwood School, a 3-18 HMC school of 1900 pupils, just 20 minutes from London Liverpool Street.

Brentwood School is partnering with Nurole, the leading board-level search specialist, to find a Governor (Safeguarding) with a robust commitment to child protection and wellbeing. They will be a senior leader with the credibility, independence and confidence to provide effective governance within a regulated environment.

The role requires senior leadership experience gained in a senior executive or equivalent context, with evidence of sound judgement and decision-making in complex environments. The appointee will ideally bring experience of safeguarding oversight or exposure to safeguarding issues. This could be from an education context or from a related field such as healthcare, social care or a charity with exposure to safeguarding issues. An education background is not essential.

The Governor will be values-led and aligned with the School’s ethos. They will be collaborative and collegiate, with the confidence to ask difficult questions and engage constructively on sensitive issues. They will demonstrate calmness, discretion and resilience, alongside strong interpersonal and communication skills, integrity and professionalism. The role will involve 3 Board and 3 Committee meetings per year + ad hoc engagement.

Please note: Given the nature of this role, applications from current parents cannot be considered.
