Brentwood Senior School is an academically selective HMC co-educational independent school with small class sizes and a happy, ambitious and supportive staff team. It is part of Brentwood School, a 3-18 HMC school of 1900 pupils, just 35 minutes from London Liverpool Street.

Brentwood School is seeking a passionate and committed Graduate Assistant to support the effective delivery of an excellent programme of PE, Games and Co-Curricular Sport in the Prep School for a one-year full-time, term-time (plus 4 weeks in school holidays) contract. This is an ideal opportunity for individuals considering a future in teaching or coaching, offering a high-quality, supportive environment to develop professional and pedagogical skills. Graduate Assistants play a key role in our vibrant Co-Curricular Sports Programme, contributing to fixtures, training sessions, and mentoring students across both the Senior and Prep Schools.

The successful candidate will foster a love of sport and physical education in children from as young as 3 years old up to 11 years old and develop appropriate skills accordingly. Pupils at the Prep school receive weekly PE and Games sessions, with the Games curriculum focusing on the traditional games such as cricket, football, hockey, netball and rugby, with the addition of athletics, gymnastics and swimming taught through PE lessons.

Beyond coaching, Graduate Assistants are assigned to a House so that they can develop their Co-Curricular skills beyond their main area and contribute to the full school life. Brentwood School offers an ambitious and progressive sporting environment, committed to providing high-quality experiences and fostering lifelong engagement with sport. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain experience across a 3–18 age range in a nationally recognised sporting institution.

Brentwood School has its own pay scale that is significantly above the maintained sector and we also have a range of subsidised staff accommodation that may be available for the successful applicant should they need to relocate.

Applications can be submitted through the TES website, alternatively, applicants who do not have a TES account should use the relevant Interactive Recruitment Form on this page. The School reserves the right to change these dates, and to close the vacancy at any time.

Brentwood School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
