From Singing Snowflakes to Scientific Success
This week, our youngest children performed their nativities, and ‘Whoospy Daisy Angel’ was as wonderful as you can imagine, with singing snowflakes, comedy lines, the traditional wise men, shepherds and angels, and of course culminating in a celebration of the birth of baby Jesus. Children and parents were delighted at the merriment, and it has rolled in our Christmas season with great energy.
Tree Week
Our Eco Ambassadors marked National Tree Week by planting two new fruit trees, a pear and a plum, with help from Mr Goldsmith, our Gardener. Earlier in the week, during the Eco Club meeting, pupils discussed why trees are so special and important. They shared some wonderful ideas: trees give us oxygen and absorb carbon dioxide, offer shade in summer, provide homes for animals, and help us feel calm and peaceful. They also provide food – just like the two trees planted yesterday. They are excited to watch them grow and hopefully enjoy some fruit before long, especially when we plant a second pear tree as they like to grow together in order to produce fruit.
Also celebrating National Tree Week, Year 4 spent their PYP Outdoor Inquiry lesson immersed in nature. They explored the different trees in our environment, discussing how they change beautifully through the seasons. Using their observational skills, pupils wrote imaginative and calming Haiku poems. Their writing was full of wonderful nature vocabulary and truly captured the peaceful setting.
Senior School Science Fair for Primary Schools
Thank you to the brilliant young Prep scientists, Serafina and Oliver, who took part in this year’s Primary School Science Exhibition, held last weekend. Serafina and Oliver amazed their audience with their eloquence, enthusiasm and understanding as they shared their discoveries and investigations. Both scored highly in the judges assessments and Serefina won the Best Scientific Investigation Award.

Head of Prep Awards
Kira H in Year 4 and Serafina H-S in Year 5 both independently chose to donate their hair to the Little Princess Trust. Their kindness, their selflessness, was clear, and as a result, it was a pleasure to present them both with a Head of Prep Award. Their charitable endeavours superbly demonstrate the Brentwood values of Virtue, Learning, and Manners.
With Monday beginning the month of December, we can lean into the wintery cosiness that is much needed this time of year.
Have a lovely weekend,
Alice Goodfellow
