Heatwave
I realise it is terribly British to talk about the weather, but we haven’t been able to stop going on about the barmy heat this week. The children and staff have been wonderfully resourceful and adapted each day to move into the coolest spaces, undertake modified activities and ultimately show true determination. The teachers, of course, have found ways to make a heatwave fun. There have been paddling pools for cooling feet, fun splash sessions in the school pool, alongside all the normal lessons.
This week saw 3 Head’s Awards being presented.
First up, we have Laurel P and Vinny A in Year 4, nominated by Mrs Alexander and Miss Rooks. Their praise of Laurel and Vinny was so passionate that it was clear they had been moved by the outstanding resilience and perseverance they showed in all aspects of their learning.
Laurel and Vinny’s dedication, determination, and work ethic are evident across all subjects, and they take great pride in their learning. Both children are excellent role models for their peers. They consistently show a willingness to learn, embrace feedback, and work hard to improve. Their commitment and positive attitude towards school make them truly deserving recipients of this award.
Unfortunately, Laurel wasn’t in when we met, but she will be celebrated alongside Vinny in our end of year assembly next week.
Next up is Wynter B in Year 6, nominated by Mrs Ludwig. Wynter has put her creative and empathetic skills to work, creating a beautiful Wellbeing Journal to be shared with other children. Wynter has developed an incredible tool for children and adults to aid them in finding strategies that will boost their self-esteem, help them detangle complex emotions, give clarity on grey days and find positivity even on difficult days.
Wynter has enjoyed her conversations with Mrs Ludwig, sharing ideas and being each other’s sounding board. The finished product is wonderful, and we cannot wait to share this with the other children. As Wynter leaves the Prep next week and heads into the Senior School, she has left us this gift and we couldn’t be more grateful.
The sun’s fearsome rays this week forced us to move some big events to next week, so I will write to you about them in due course. Key Stage 2 Sports Day and the Foundation Teddy Bears’ Picnic, to name but a few.
Have a glorious weekend.
