Brentwood Senior School is an academically selective HMC co-educational independent school with small class sizes and a happy, ambitious and supportive staff team. It is part of Brentwood School, a 3-18 HMC school of 1900 pupils, just 35 minutes from London Liverpool Street.

Immerse your creative practice in a thriving educational community with the Brentwood School Artist Residency for the 2026–27 academic year. Designed to support independent, returning, or establishing artists, as well as those seeking a vibrant creative base, this flexible, non-salaried residency provides dedicated studio space, access to world-class specialist facilities, and a £3,000 materials budget. Our Art Department is a pedagogical leader renowned for student-led enquiry, pop-up exhibitions, and public art projects. Housed just 35 minutes from London Liverpool Street, our facilities feature two double studios, a dedicated ceramics studio with kilns and wheels, screen-printing, darkroom, digital photography suite, and an impressive art library.

While developing your own practice, typically around 15 flexible hours per week during term time, you will enrich school life simply by sharing your process with ambitious students through informal guidance, critiques, and occasional workshops. There is no set teaching requirement or rigid attendance schedule, allowing you full artistic autonomy within a warm, culturally diverse, and academically selective HMC school environment. If you are an intellectually curious practitioner eager to create on site while inspiring the next generation of artists, we warmly invite your application for this renewable annual residency.
