Wraparound

Our term time Wraparound facility is available to all Brentwood Preparatory School pupils. We are fortunate that our Wraparound will be run in-house by School staff and there will be qualified Paediatric First Aiders on site at all times. Through structured and free play, we encourage the social, physical, intellectual, creative and emotional development of the child. The needs of the child will be the primary focus of the Wraparound facility.

"Having worked at Brentwood Preparatory School, in one capacity or another for the past 15 years, I am thoroughly looking forward to starting this new chapter in my school story.

Working with children is definitely the most rewarding part of my role, especially in Early Years where no two days are the same. I cannot help but smile and laugh with the children as I watch them learn and explore.

Brentwood born and bred, I joined the working world fresh from A Levels, and for a number of years I worked at the Midland Bank, HSBC, in the West End.

The arrival of my first son, Jack, meant my London commute became a ‘big ask’ and when his younger brother, Alfred, was born a couple of years later, I knew London working life was no longer for me as I really wanted to be a stay at home mum with my children.

Jack, now 19, attended Brentwood School from Year 7 to Upper Sixth, which helped pave the way to his degree at Surrey University studying Economics. Alfred, who is now 17, is currently studying for his A Levels in Economics, Politics and English Literature.

My Prep School adventure started back in 2004 when I began working part-time in the Catering Department - the perfect job for a busy mum with two boys at school. As well as my Catering role, I also volunteered to help in the Foundation Year (3+).

This voluntary work made me realise just how much I enjoyed spending time with children and encouraged me to study for my Cache Level 3 in Childcare. The whole experience was invaluable and I witnessed at first hand both sides of school life - not just that from the playground as a parent.

I quickly learned the School’s values and ethos and how those three words, Virtue, Learning, Manners, helped grow not only the School, but the pupils within.

Completing my Level 3 in Childcare was a fantastic achievement and one that helped to jumpstart my career within the Prep School. When a Foundation Teaching Assistant role was advertised, I felt confident in applying and went for an interview. My volunteering experience along with my Level 3, helped secure the post and, as I write this, I have been working as a TA in the Foundation for seven years. Where has the time gone?

In my spare time, I love to share as much time with my family and friends as I can and I enjoy walking our little Jack Russell, Ledley, who is a big part of our family. You may have guessed by Ledley’s moniker that Tottenham Hotspur is my team and I try to go to as many of their games as I can.”
