Old Brentwoods continue to do the School proud, achieving acclaim and recognition in national competitions, and proving the lessons they learnt at Brentwood last beyond the classroom.
Paris Ware-Lane (OB 2014-2020) has been commended for her translation of a section of Albert Camus' La Peste which she entered in the Queen's College Oxford Translation Prize.
The competition, which ran during Summer Term 2020, was open to Language students in Years 10-13. Judges, who received 295 entries, were ‘delighted’ with Paris’ submission.
Paris is now reading French and Classics at The University of Edinburgh after gaining 3 A*s in French, Greek and Latin at A Level.
Fellow Old Brentwood, Joel Runevic (OB 2018-2020), was named as one of the highest calibre entrants in this year’s Immerse Education Essay Competition. Joel’s win entitles him to a 20% scholarship to one of the Immerse academic enrichment programmes in Cambridge University and Oxford University colleges.
The competition attracted thousands of entries this year, and all of the essays were independently reviewed and graded, so to be named as one of the highest calibre entrants was a fantastic achievement.
Joel is holding on to the A*s in Physics, Economics, Maths and Further Maths which he achieved in this summer’s A Level exams and is applying for a scholarship at a top US University.
