Brentwood School's VSA (Voluntary Service Activity) students welcomed residents from Hutton View Care Home, Leonard Lodge, South Weald Almshouses and Shenfield Almshouses to the Memorial Hall for an afternoon of Christmas cheer, cakes and carols.

Charity Coordinator, Mrs Claudia Hardy, said: "After a three-year break due to the pandemic, it was so moving to spend an afternoon with our visitors; singing carols led by the chamber choir and having afternoon tea. The VSA students served the tea and socialised with the visitors, some who they see during their weekly volunteering slot, and others they had never met before. They were a credit to the School and a true example of 'virtue'. Everyone was in fine voice, particularly the students and teachers (Headmaster Mr Bond included) who were chosen at random to sing a solo!"
