Community Music

‘Keeping school music alive’ despite the pandemic, two lockdowns, and the myriad of social restrictions in place is the focus of debate during tomorrow’s Phoenix FM Drive programme.

Brentwood School’s Director of Music, Mr Florian Cooper, and the music leads at Becket Keys CofE School and St Martin’s School will join radio host Georgia Frampton to discuss the impact Covid has had on music provision in the town’s schools.

Mr Cooper, Mr Peter Romhany, Director of Music at Becket Keys, and St Martin’s Head of Music, Mr Max Harris, will share their determination to celebrate each other’s achievements and to ensure Brentwood schools continue to make sweet music.

It has been a tough but rewarding year for school music which has encouraged the learning of new tech-based skills and the breaking down of community boundaries with student concerts live-streamed across the globe.

You can tune into tomorrow’s Drive discussion (Tuesday 8th December) and listen live via mixcloud; on Phoenix FM’s website, or by tuning into 98FM. The interview will also be available for catchup on the Phoenix Fm blog at the end of the show.
