Co-Curricular Competition

Brentwood’s Equestrian team had a fantastic day of competition at the Brook Farm Equestrian Centre, Stapleford Abbotts, qualifying for the nationals in every class entered.

Brentwood’s Prep School team started the day off brilliantly and continued their unbroken run of top podium positions since forming in November last year. They jumped super rounds to win both the 60cm and 70cm grassroots team show jumping classes.

Individually in the 60cm, Lucy placed a fabulous 2nd and 4th on her two ponies. Rae B jumped exceptionally well on a pony she had only ridden the day before and kindly lent by Sophie, to gain 3rd while Rae T was a fantastic 5th.

The girls upped their game even further in the 70cm event achieving a 1-2-3! A win for Lucy, 2nd Rae B, 3rd Rae T with Lucy (Billy) 6th. Lucy then went on to win the 75cm to crown a brilliant day for the junior riders. They all now qualify for the grassroots festival at Hickstead in August as well at the regional grassroots championships in December.

Next up was Sophie who kept up Brentwood’s winning streak by taking the top two placings in the preliminary and novice dressage qualifiers on her two horses. She went on to win the preliminary combined training (dressage and show jumping) and the intermediate combined training qualifiers with a second placing in the latter too.

Charlotte continued the top of the podium day by winning the open combined training with Sophie second behind her. Fabulous results for Sophie and Charlotte mean they head off to the National Schools Equestrian Association Championships at Addington in Bucks in October.

Team manager and trainer, Mrs Annette Philpot, said: “What an amazing day and I’m very proud of the girls. All the hard work paid off and many thanks as always to our wonderfully supportive parents.”
